I have many art journals. Some I have made myself, some are from the store, and some are altered books. Anything can work. I like the freedom of expressing whatever I feel at the time - in all different mediums. I have used books for class lessons, journal prompts, sketching, and a variety of different collages.
I have been making mixed media art for many years now. The variety of mediums and surfaces is what appealed to me. I like that there are no rules and playing sometimes ends up with the best creations. One thing leads to another and things evolve.
A Year Of Art Cards
In 2019 I made challenge to myself to make an art card a week. I had an old set of jumbo playing cards and I added collage and text to each to make a whole deck. 52 cards = 52 weeks.
Vintage Ledger Journal
In September of 2014 I decided to a back to school project. I had a vintage ledger from 1938 and I altered a page a day with paint, papers and photos. I ended up doing 100 pages! The ledger has 500 pages - but it is getting quite fat already. It was a great challenge to come up with a new idea every day.
